CD/LP LIST:
The Kids “Living in the 20th Century” CD (Fan Club) $10
THE KIDS were a band from Belgium that started in 1977. Their sound was a mix of the originality of the SEX PISTOLS, the catchyness of THE VIBRATORS, the snottyness of EATER, and the anger of THE ADVERTS. They are one of the most overlooked bands today from that era, probably because they weren't English. They released six albums altogether, their first two being the most popular (the second went under the name NAUGHTY KIDS), but only for the fact that those two have been re-released, either officially or as bootlegs and are not hard to come by. They include great songs like "Bloody Belgium" and Do You Love the Nazis" and "Naughty Boys" and "Jesus Christ Didn't Exist". Their very rare and sought-after 3rd LP from 1978 was never re-released, but it is now available here on cd. The only song re-released from their 3rd record is on a Killed by Death compilation and probably their best song ever called "Do You Wanna Know".
The Manikins “Highschool Goodboy” 10” EP (Lollipop) $11 import
Six tracks for this swedish band before their 3rd album on PTrash. Just somewhere between the Sonics, Teengenarate, Hives and the Saints. The band’s signature jagged guitars with ‘70s punk roots and sing-along vocals mixing garage punk and power pop will have any rock ‘n’ roll fan shaking their hips and pogoing around. Get your Manikins groove on now!
The Observers “So What’s Left Now” LP (Yellow Dog) $11 import
Melancholy singalong punk. Combines the darker and more experimental aspects of bands like the Dead Kennedys and WARSAW & other late 70’s UK art punk with the anthemic choruses of LA’s Youth Brigade yet sounding nothing like any of those bands. Put these guys on a bill with the Stitches, Geisha Girls, Manikin and the Distraction and the art punks will go nuts!
Red Dons “Death to Imperialism” LP (Wasted Sounds) $11 import
The Red Dons are the continuation of the Observers. After members abruptly left the band in 2005, Douglas Burns, the Observers’ lead singer, artist, and primary songwriter teamed up with Hajji Husayn to continue on with the band. Next, Justin Maurer (Clorox Girls) on guitar and re-named this new line-up the Red Dons. Death to Idealism is the group’s first full-length album, and is perfect for fans of the Vicious, No Hope For the Kids, Gorilla Angreb, Clorox Girls, and of course the Observers. As to be expected, this record stays in tune with the melancholy, melodic, and sometimes unpredictable punk sounds of the Observers, and even features the excellent "Walk Alone" track which appeared on a previous Observers 7".
The Marked Men “S/T” LP (Dirtnap) $10
Reissue of the long sought after first LP. Punchy, tightly wound bullets of punk and power-pop goodness from Dallas/Denton/Ft. Worth's finest, THE MARKED MEN! Featuring ex-members of beloved TX outfit THE REDS (and a current member of The Riverboat Gamblers!), THE MARKED MEN'S debut LP on the legendary Rip Off Records put them on just about every discerning punk rocker's 2003 top ten list, which was followed by highly sucessful tours of the US and Japan. This record's so good, we here at Dirtnap Records are willing to overlook the fact that these guys aren't even from the Northwest!
The Marked Men “On the Outside” CD/LP (Dirtnap) $10
Thirteen songs in 28 minutes, played with Ramonesy enthusiasm and tightness. The Dirtnap label specializes in this kind of thing, and the Marked Men is one of the better acts I heard in 2004. They play very fast but not sloppy, and even slip in the occasional 2 and 3 part harmonies! The singing is right on key and tuneful, not gruff, sung in the style of the Ramones but without the goofy Joey Ramone vibe. Lyrics that are clever but not always intelligible; nothing too deep but which avoids the annoying "emo" or "angst" style lyrics of the last 5-10 years, which is nice. It all adds up to a fun listen, something you can blast on your headphones on your way to school or work, or in your room at top volume, and it all flies by quite enjoyably. Crank it!
The Exploding Hearts “Shattered” CD/LP (Dirtnap) $10
The Exploding Hearts' sound is uncompromisingly poppy, but gnashing and biting nonetheless. They combine the exuberance of the Britpop invasion with the gnarly attitude of '70s punk rock bands like The Buzzcocks and The Fleshtones. Their call-and-response, sing-along choruses and nifty riffing immediately crawls into that part of your brain that compels you to watch The Breakfast Club whenever it's on TV. It's an album that I've listened to frequently for almost two years but of which I have yet to get sick. How Guitar Romantic can be so catchy, yet resonate at the same time is a regular point of confusion for me. The passion of scrappy back-to-back tracks "Sleeping Aides and Razorblades" and "Rumours in Town" is immediately felt without being over-earnest. Featuring the Hearts trademark scraping guitars and cathartic lyrics, both songs clock in at about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The emotional economy on this album presents an aurally invigorating experience, translating the excitement of new crushes and shattering break-ups into mini pop anthems.
Busy Signals “S/T” CD/LP (Dirtnap) $10
Has anyone mentioned The Pretenders when reviewing this? Think of Chrissie Hynde singing for the Buzzcocks circa 1979. Or, at least, that's a starting point. There is a heavy pre-1981 Pretenders vibe to this, even down to the phone call sound effects at the end of the song "Ring, Ring, Ring," which brings to mind the early Pretenders song "The Phone Call." The Busy Signals' sound is burlier than The Pretenders, however, (even counting the Pretenders' earliest phase) which is good. And although this is a punk LP, it is not thrashy, or aggro, or hairy-chested tough guy stuff. It's just well-written, well-executed, hooky-as-heck late 70s, early 80s style punk rock and roll. It owes as much to the Buzzcocks and the Undertones as it does to bands like the female-fronted Penetration and maybe even a hint of super early Blondie. But, like I said, Busy Signals play punk -- not new wave. The sound on this s/t LP is beefier than 70s punk stuff by a tad -- definitely guitar-driven -- but the vocals come through crystal clear, as in power pop. "Uh Oh," the second to last track, is a complete power pop gem. Come to think of it, every track on here is a winner to some degree.
The Hatepinks “Auto-Ejection” 12” EP (Relax-O-Matic Vibrator) $11 import
Hailing from the seedy underbelly of filthy France, the HATEPINKS formed in 2003 out of the ashes of various bands from the French Garage/Punk underground. Since their first demo CD went into circulation, the HATEPINKS have been receiving glowing accolades from Punk fanzines across the globe, and their numerous releases on seminal labels like Lollipop and Unity Squad have gained them an international following of rabid fans. But forget the name, forget the skinny ties, the sunglasses, the disjointed Œ77-style graphics and everything else that tempts you to pass this band off as another gimmick. The HATEPINKS have earned their praise in the press and their fans because of one thing: their sound. Fusing a vicious mixture of styles, the HATEPINKS have come up with an original sound all their own. They aren¹t aping the KBD/Bloodstains classics, they are creating new ones. The primitive stomp of Garage, the bubble gum hooks of Power Pop, the snot-and-bile spewing angst of '77 Punk Rock it's all here like you¹ve never heard it before. So get into it!!
Beat Beat Beat “Living in the Future” LP (Alien Snatch) $11 import
Beat Beat Beat melds ‘77 punk hooks with the energy of early ‘80s hardcore, and power pop-esque catchy songwriting skills. Saints meet Adolescents? Johnny Thunders meets early Briefs? Exploding Hearts gone KBD? Recorded in Atlanta by Dave Carbona, Living In The Future unleashes 12 sleazy, swaggering punk/pop (NOT pop punk) slices of perfection on to the undeserving masses, including a stunning cover of Australian legends The Fun Things’ "Where The Birdmen Fly."
The Hex Dispensers “S/T” LP (Alien Snatch) $11 import
I am often at a loss for words when I come up with albums that have this approach to garage punk rock. Maybe is the simplicity of the music or maybe is it that I like the style so much (and therefore I may be bias) and know so little about their scene (or whether there actually is one) that I often feel as if I can't represent the albums in question with the accuracy and objectivity desired. Regardless, I am already getting into the bad habit of running out of good things to say about bands as great as this Austin, TX trio, who I have actually found to have been dubbed as the 'best garage band in the city' by quite the reputable site. And we all know how musical all those Austinites are. So to get to the point; The Hex Dispensers are powerful, and know very well their chords and know exactly when to strike them for full effect, and know how to arrange them to make hook-laden two-to-two-and-a-half quickies. In the case of the greatness of The Hex Dispensers, there are two elements that make the band; the voice of Alex Cuervo; (judging by this album the man is also quite the talented and prolific composer and also a former member of This Damn Town and The Brotherhood of Electricity) who sings as well as you and/or me but like the voice of a Joey Ramone, his vocal and syllable inflections are damn infectious and are delivered with caffeinated energy. The way Cuervo sings his lines in the standout (and I mean standout of an album full of 'em suckers) "Forest Ray Colson" is pure liberation in the garage rock sense of the word. Meaning that it gets you moving like you are a fanatic, and you don't even notice it. The second thing being the guitars; fast melodic riffs racing ("H.D. Local 23") through the streets in a night of urban debauchery. Some of 'em are damn first grade type stuff ("Are You An Assassin"), but that's what is all about here; doing the most of with what you have. Looking back at the last lines, it is obvious I didn't really have shit to say, nothing but good things anyway. Guitars and vocals, I fuck! Guitars and vocals are basic everywhere.
Ghetto Ways “Solid Brown” LP (Alien Snatch) $11 import
Alien snatch deliver the goods once again! This label can't do no wrong! This brooklyn power trio play some motor city rock'n'roll ala MC5 with a garage raunchy sound! If you like THE STOOGES, THE BELLRAYS you will love this! It have that 60's soul twist feeling mixed up with the 70's rock from detroit sound. All that blend with a punk attitude! Brilliant!
The Riff Randells “Doublecross” LP (Alien Snatch) $11 import
Some folks see them as a notherhern hockey playing counterpart of the DONNAS, while they always appeared in a nice teenage way of understatement. They grew up on the smell of vinyl and share friends with music maniacs like The FEVERS, 5678s, Tina Luchessi & The BOBBYTEENS and The FLAKES. ALIEN SNATCH! released their 10” mini-album entitled “Lethal Lipgloss” which is seen as one of the most infectious bubblegum music and got them many fans – and also on the cover of MAXIMUM ROCK`N`ROLL. With their new album the RIFF RANDELLS found home on the highly praised and successful underground labels of the last years – ALIEN SNATCH! and DIRTNAP. Those cats roll since ´99 and are the new generation JOSIE COTTON & NIKKI CORVETTE. In their good-times attitude, musical taste and continuity in doing the most exciting thing besides having the crush on the weird geek from the Hot Dog stop is playing in a buzzing rock and roll band! “Doublecross” is a girl group power pop album driven by a JOAN JETT blend of rocking three chord guitar drenched with Kathy's spectacular, undeniable hot and saccharine vocals. She´s got what so many girl singers miss - shout it out as catchy as only girls can do and keep it punchy from start to end.
Press Gang “S/T” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
Feeding on anger and cheese macaroni, getting drunk on cheap beer and touching themselves in total sexual desperation, these juvenile delinquents try to cope with their shit-city frustration and spit out these 12 songs of raw and depraved Hardcore-Punk with a primitive and proud "I don't care about your world"-attitude that simply can't be overheard. These new songs are stripped down and fucked up but still keep a snotty catchiness. Think of end 70s England bands like THE USERS mixed with early 80s mid-tempo Hardcore from Boston and the young ADOLESCENTS, spiced up with killer Bass-lines, stirring chorus and lyrics that speak straight from the heart of any low-life out there. They deal with being hungover ("Alka-Seltzer"), going nowhere ("Low Life", "Stranded in nowhere"), too many horny nights alone ("D.I.Y."), pissing on people who dominate their instruments ("Musicians"), having no dough and the lack of energy to deal with life ("$$$" and "24/7"). A short and all around slap in the face of modern society and determined bands that want to break through, presented by a singer that soon needs to be delivered into the nuthouse, where JAY REATARD and Doph of DEAN DIRG are already waiting to play a round of Mau-Mau.
The Manikins “Lie, Cheat and Steal” CD/LP (P. Trash) $11 import
The 4 sympaticos from Sweden are back with a bang. Jokes aside: if you liked their first two platters, this one will stick to you like chewing gum on a dancing shoe. Poppier and catchier than ever before, the album starts off with the title track ''Lie, cheat and steal'', that shows in the best TEENAGE HEAD manner, that now the boys know even damn better how it's done. You can really catch everything here: Fast songs with bombastic choruses like ''I don't need anyone'', ''The world that once was ours'' or ''The bells of St. Nicolai'', Rock'n'Roll smokers like ''Lovesick'', ''In love with you'' or ''Can't stop thinking of you'' (complete with that cool ''La Bamba'' Riff). There's perfect little tearjerkers like ''I wanna say I'm sorry'' or ''Spent the night alone'' and songs like ''Highschool good boy'' and ''The Setup'' that simply overhaul THE HIVES on the fast lane. And the Gran Finale ''Wish for things to be'' perfectly sets you up for a Friday night on the loose. Beautiful cover artwork by Fritte, too! Layout by S.Trash !!!
The Heartattacks “Here Comes…” CD (P. Trash) $11 import
The wax will be out of print very soon, and the CD version comes with unreleased bonus stuff. Here is the story from this new swedish band sensation!!! Tokyo 2002: Chased by the yakuza Tomo (TOKYO KNIVES, MACARONI) grabs her bass and take her escape to sweden. At a party she is introduced to Klack and they make planes to form a punk rawk band. Tomo phone up Magnus (BLACKS, KAMEN RIDERS, HANDSOME STRANGLERS), who she met during an earlier visit to sweden and tells him about her plans. Magnus joins Tomo on her quest and calls his old friend Zeta (DONTCARES), and he takes on the role as the drummer. So THE HEARTATTACKS are born in mars 2003. After a couple of weeks of rehearsing they have 11 songs ready and soon get their 1st gig at Stockholms CBGB`s, with The MICRAGIRLS and DIXIE BUZZARDS. It`s a succes!!! The crowd goes crazy!!! Thomas Savage joins the band backstage and emediatly offer them a record deal. Stockholm summer 2004 they released their 1st 7" on SAVAGE REC. I`ve got that 11 songs demo cdr from Magnus late summer. Oh my god!!! I really love this 1st demo with that raw versions!!! After 2-3 e-mails Magnus gave me his `OK` for releasing the songs on wax, and now on CD!!! After MARTIN SAVAGE mixed all songs new, I`m glad to release THE HEARTATTACKS 1st full length
The Statues “AUX” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
After the release of their second full-length "New people make us nervous", these Canadians are becoming more and more popular. To keep your cold turkey for their sweet and gritty sound at bay, P.Trash did a little diggin' in the musical past of the trio and puts out "Aux", same title as their first full-length, originally released as a CD only on Californian Pelado Records. In agreement with the band, we picked the best 8 songs from this record (a choice that definitely wasn't easy) and the boys chipped in 2 more unreleased songs with the snappy "View from here" and the WIPERS-influenced "Mortar & Mason", both recorded somewhere between the releases of the two records. It's hard to believe that pearls like these haven't found their way on a record before. If you liked the pop-appeal of ''New people…'' you'll get your fix of harmonies and catchy melodies here. This ain't no lame-ass "early-years-stuff'', these recordings are even more poppy and smoother than their latest material! The guitar work in "Fine tuned'' and "Division" heavily reminds of THE CLASH and THE JAM, while songs like "Caught" and "Picket" are more on the JAWBREAKER side, all mixed up with a typical Canadian sense for power-pop and topped lyricwise with a critical eye on society. Also contains the hymn "Signals" from the band's first 7inch. Comes in a hand-printed silkscreen cover done by Antipesto-Graphics
The Toyotas “Make Headlines” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
Germany's THE TOYOTAS surely will make every garage punk gazette's front page with this wild and shredding platter. Head honcho of the 3-pack is DEAN DIRG's guitar swinger Claus-Daniel, who also provides all 12 songs with his ratty voice. The "White Side" blasts out the fast and short tracks "Cars are not cool", "Get snotty with you" and "No one likes me messin' around", all well equipped with Daniel's typical chop chop guitar and sounding like a mix between punkier DEAN DIRG and THE INFECTIONS. "Got no car" and "Talk on the telephone", both underlayed with a spooky organ, could be rough demo takes of lost MANIKINS "Epileptic" songs, while supertune "Teenage nightmare" adds a good shovel of groovy 77-Punk to the whole thing. The 6 songs on the "Black Side" were recorded in other session and are way more dirty and pushing. Again, "TV injection", "Lost in the city", "Pigswill U.K.", "Big mouth of the neighborhood" and "Obsolete machine" overhaul each other in a mud-splashing DEAN DIRG vs. MANIKINS staccato race. Hell, they all seem to have mixed up their fuel with some extra-catchy secret additive. And to demonstrate their love for good ol' English. Punk, the band finally throws in the slightly slower "Dead Joe Blogg", where the squeaking nasal voice reaches the top. A short and hectic snot attack full of rough catchiness and a good sense of cool songs.
Original Three “Been Dealt a Losing Hand” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
This Memphis based trio, founded by BLACK LIP`s guitar player Ian, creates its minimalistic, yet damn catchy
and melodic Garage Punk by using the classic OBLIVIANS ingredients: Two guitars, grooving CRAMPS-like
drums, a slightly distorted and snappy voice and a swampy Memphis feeling. The majority of these 9 songs range in a slower sector with cheap driving guitar leads and a drifting groove. "This is the way I`m walking", "Needs fixing" and "Unplug" stand out as faster tracks in the vein of OBLIVIANS or even THE REATARDS, whose boss JAY has a guest appearence here. His ex ALICJA TROUT (LOST SOUNDS, RIVER CITY TANLINES,...) not only functioned as the producer of 2 songs, but also plays the piano on "It`s not the way you`re thinking". Licensed from Empty Records, who did the CD. All LPs come in a silkscreened cover in 4 different versions, a very limited version will come in colored vinyl as well.
Digger and the Pussycats “Let’s Go To Hospital” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
Good ole' Sam of the infamous Australian Garage Rock'nRoll duo DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS should have better watched his back while shakin' this guitar onstage like a rabid crocodile. Then again, this new album called ''Let's go to hospital'' probably wouldn't have turned out the way it has. This is wild, soulfoul and dirty Rock'n'Roll with a fuckin' backbone! Ten more scratching tunes stuffed with anger, smut and lust. You get your fill of shaking DIRTBOMBS-like Detroit sound in ''ASIO'', ''Liar Liar'' and the extremely danceable ''Cut you loose'' and ''Kept man'', you stagger through a drunk and horny night in ''Oh yeah'' and crawl like a dog in ''I want to be your slut'', infected with slower WIPERS-parts and a good dose of OBLIVIANS overdrive. In between, the two Aussies blast out the unapologetic punk tune ''I'm so bored with you'' that reminds of old LEWD topped with a brutal and ear-battering MUDHONEY feedback orgy. In more than one occasion, Sam let's his guitar howl in a way that would have made JIMI HENDRIX turn to a lighter shade. To surprise the astonished listener, at the end of the album, they placed the two sweet and sugary pop-punk tunes ''What you say, what you do'' and ''Let's go to hospital'', that THE STATUES or THE TRANZMITORS definitely couldn't have done better. DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS neither backed nor slowed down a bit on this catchy and tight new platter, which comes in a colourful comic-style sleeve done by LLUIS.
The Missing Shadows “Western Waste” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
Playing in the league of new german bands with teams like THE TOYOTAS, TATORT TOILET or THE GRIZZLY ADAMS BAND, these 5 foxes climb up position after position with their very authentic and outstanding sound. Their fine debut is comprised of 12 stirring mid-tempo and more hectic up-beat tracks, mixing the melodic, yet raspy ''Land Speed''-era HÜSKER DÜ guitarwork with ANGRY SAMOANS' catchiness, GUN CLUB's playful feeling for melodies and an explicit coloring of early 80s German-Punk a la TOXOPLASMA (especially the singer's offensive vocal skills), crowned with melodic singalong choruses. Could easily be associated with Swedens` VICIOUS approach to provide us with catchy, snotty tunes. Comes in a carboard sleeve with "inside out" print.
Lover! “S/T” LP (P. Trash) $11 import
Come into the versatile universe of Mr. Rich Crook, well known amongst Garage-Punk lovers for his contribution for the REATARDS at an early age, AMERICAN DEATH RAY, LOST SOUNDS and lately busy in the KNAUGHTY KNIGHTS, together with his pal Jack Yarber. On this fine platter he takes us to a journey into his very own musical landscape with 10 straight and somehow particular songs. A rough and unpolished production sure reminds of the beloved Memphis Sound, but there's something different to it. Listen to the great and raspy opener ''Everyone I want'' with that high pitched and melodic vocals, the crunchy guitars and that sunny ''ba ba ba'' part towards the end. Especially that untypical way of singing makes mid- to up-tempo garage songs like ''Bo Peep and Frank'', ''Possession'' or ''Red headed Monster'' sound like a combination of later OBLIVIANS, MARKED MEN and CHEAP TRICK. Then again, there's cool and genuine garage tunes like ''Tonight! She's dead", ''Gun in your face'' or ''Thoughts of a man'' with screaming, yet melodic and laid-back guitars and a steady beat, provided by Greg Roberson of REIGNING SOUNDS/AMERICAN DEATH RAY, as well as a subtle whiff of new wave punk. In the smoother ''Dewaynne'' and ''Pipe is too tight'' you get the full load of power-pop and some weepin' WIPERS guitars in the slower and surprisingly catchy ''Waiting on you''. No doubt about it, this record turns everyone into a LOVER!
This vinyl version of the Empty Records CD is limited to 1000 copies of which a super limited amount of 200 will come in green wax splattered with blood-red splashes. Thick cover-sleeve turned inside out with a 4-color print. Sounds great! Looks great!
Brutal Knights “Living By Yourself” picture disc LP (P. Trash) $11 import
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Similarly, when Brutal Knights hands you a new album called Feast Of Shame, make piss in your pants, because you should be excited. The Toronto fivesome, whose debut LP (The Pleasure Is All Thine, also on Deranged Records) established them as being immature for their age, has continued making music, resulting in the 14 songs recorded by Jon Drew at Toronto’s Signal To Noise studios (FUCKED UP ‘hidden world’, Career Suicide ‘attempted suicide’) and then mixed by musician Jay Reatard in Memphis. The arduous kampf that went into this release is probably what sent drummer Msgzus packing, although not before laying down awesome drumwork for the LP. Feast of Shame features BRUTAL KNIGHTS at their best ? faster, rawer and dumber than before with the production to boot! By the way, there are songs about food on this album ("The Perfect Buffet"). There are also songs about haters (You’re Fired[I Quit]). There are also songs about being randy(every song on the album). There are also songs about not being emotionally or physically strong ("So Weak"). There are also songs about losing weight ("Bikini Diet"). The way the songs sound is like a peanut butter and white bread sandwich being eaten Lady and The Tramp-style by Joel Madden and Wendy O. Williams, while Jon Sharron sits and lets the image inspire riffs, and Nick Flanagan is also there, writing a rhyming article about the whole thing. Sorry, it will not cure your STDs.
Brutal Knights “Pleasure Is All Thine” LP (Deranged) $11 import
Along with anyone lucky enough to have seen this band live, I’ve been praising BRUTAL KNIGHTS’ greatness ever since I heard that Nick Flanagan (TEEN CRUD COMBO) and the Sharon brothers (HACKSAW) were talking about starting a new band. If you don’t already know, Toronto has been responsible for some of the best current punk bands going (FUCKED UP, CAREER SUICIDE, TERMINAL STATE) and now BRUTAL KNIGHTS. Their "Not Fun" 7" (also on Deranged) raised a few eyebrows but failed to really capture their sound and intensity. Luckily, this album is not only a huge improvement with a solid mix/mastering by Jon Drew (produced both FUCKED UP ‘Police’ and ‘Generations’) but it also includes the bands best material to date making this a total shredder. I expect this will surprise most who give this record a spin. PLAY IT LOUD! A second West Coast tour is getting organized for 2006.
Lover! “Gathered in the Graveyard” LP (Red Lounge) $11 import
Live Fast Die “Bandana Thrash” CD (Dead Beat) $10
I was expecting LIVEFASTDIE to be heavily influenced by GG ALLIN but I wasn’t sure which era-GG they would sound like and I was hoping that it wasn’t the MURDER JUNKIES because that’s when GG ran out of ideas. Thankfully LIVEFASTDIE are born out of the early sound of the JABBERS and the SCUMFUCS... that raw rock n roll urgency with a huge dose of fun. GG really nailed that sound and LIVEFASTDIE drive that nail in deeper... this is fantastic punk rock. The vocals even sound live a young GG... quite high and nasal and the whole key to this style is that it comes across as dangerous without being over the top and that’s where GG lost the way later on. This is a fantastic record and it's so great to hear that raw, attacking, stripped-down punk rock sound that I fell in love with delivered so fuckin well.
Forbidden Tigers “Magnetic Problems” CD (Dead Beat) $10
Well there seems to be hope for the Lincoln/Ohama, Nebraska rock n roll scene after all. First BRIMSTONE HOWL, than THE TERMINALS and now another new band to add to the small list of certified Nebraska wall shakers....The FORBIDDEN TIGERS. This Grand Island, NE rock band was born and raised in the sticks, and their debut’s a nice tantilizing slice of life outside the farm seen through the eyes of four budding young up and coming musicians. The FORBIDDEN TIGERS certainly aren’t unfamiliar with the torrid, raunchy world of a rock n roll band since the TIGERS contain Calvin Retzlaff, David Nance and Nick Waggoner whom also share damage duty in BOMP/ALIVE main stays BRIMSTONE HOWL. Calvin, David and Nick recruited long time friend Zach Butz to start a new band for no other reason than to “fuck around”. And what better reason to start a band, right?? Well bucking all odds this talented young four piece, just barely drinkin age, have chosen a debaucherous life in rock n roll and they’ve certainly made their mark with ‘Magnetic Problems’.
Bill Bondsmen “Swallowed By the World” CD (Dead Beat) $10
You could say that the Detroit based BILL BONDSMEN play raw, angry hardcore punk and leave it at that. But that’s lazy. And since I’m getting paid by the word, I need to pad this out a bit (wink, wink). I will say that they’ve got the trigger-finger animosity of other compatriots from the Midwest—the guitar scuzz certainly sounds like some of the buzzsaw Cleveland acts like 9 Shocks Terror or the Inmates. Add to that the pure rage of MassHoles (a term of endearment for people from Massachusetts) Out Cold, with whom they shared a split 7" with last year. It’s not a musical carbon copy, but more a similar attitude and feel that the BONDSMEN have to other midwest thrashers all the while adding their own vicious stamp to it.
The Feelers “Learn to Hate The Feelers” CD (Dead Beat) $10
On the heels of a highly sought after debut seven inch these five lads from Columbus, OH have hit us upside the head with their first full length. This is a continuation of the single right down to the "recorded in the practice space" feel. They've been called everything from a Killed By Death style band to being "too lo-fi". Noisy, dirty, quick (only one song passes the two minute mark) songs that sound like the Clone Defects pissed on a Reatards album and this was the murky yellowish brown run off, but that's a good thing. The only hold over from the single is the song "Next Boy". Headache inducing, dual guitar rock with a hatred of Germans thrown in for good measure. I bet I could clear the break room at work with this, all the while I'd sit there by myself with a smile on my face.
Taxi “Like a Dog” CD/LP (Dead Beat) $10
Let me start out by saying their record fucking rules. Finally Italy has produced a great punk band (well the Chronics are cool too.). Taxi play in a '77 style, but don't call them retro. This record stands head and shoulders above most of the punk revivalist bands. This record is catchy, it rocks, and it's actually sexy. How can a record be sexy, it's just a piece of vinyl? well it's in the fucking attitude. It's just fucking cool. Unlike most of the wimpy, striped shirt punk rockers of today, Taxi is all about doing drugs and getting laid. The foundation of rock n roll is sex and drugs is good to see a band see the important connection between pussy, drugs, and guitars. Taxi are like the band that come play a show in your town, crash at your house and proceed to do all your drugs, drink all your beer and not only fuck your girlfriend but your little sister too (maybe even your mom). I hear a little hard rock influence in this kinda like early GnR meets Dead Boys.but worry not, there's absolutely no WANKING everything about this record is just right. The playing is solid and confident, something that is so rare in this era of sloppy punk . The production is strong, not overproduced and definitely not underproduced. Another cool thing about this band is that they look like motherfuckers you wouldn't wanna meet in a dark alley. This could be record of the year...wonder if they want a second guitarist.
Taxi “Yu Tolk Tu Mach” CD/LP (Gonna Puke / Dead Beat) $10 (CD import)
Let me start out by saying their record fucking rules. Finally Italy has produced a great punk band (well the Chronics are cool too.). Taxi play in a '77 style, but don't call them retro. This record stands head and shoulders above most of the punk revivalist bands. This record is catchy, it rocks, and it's actually sexy. Iron Virgin “1974 Scottish Glam Rock” LP (Rave Up) $11 import
Iron Virgin was a 70's glam proto punk band who were formed in Edinburgh, Scotland. Back in 1973, Decca assigned their best producer, Nick Tauber, who produced Thin Lizzy (The Boys Are Back in Town) and many others...to scour Scotland for a new band for the Deram (Decca) label. He came to a small town in Scotland to listen to the band and, at the end of the show, he said that this wa the best live band he’d seen since The Move! So the band went down to London to record some demos in West Hampstead studio. Consequently, the band was signed to Decca Records, that released their great two singles, both ‘classics’ for ‘70’s UK r’n’r glam fans. This definitive antholgy, wich contains also unreleased tracks, is the definitive tribute to one of the best bands of that decade!!!
Doug Derek and The Hoax “ Who the Hell Is Doug Derek” LP (Rave Up) $11 import
All previously unreleased until now, ultra-catchy songs such as "Bobby's Gotta Get Back To Boston," "I Don't Really Like It Here," "I Need Your Love (Let Me Take You Into The Night)" and the anthemic "Airwaves" (a tale about a fictional band making it to the top of the charts with an unusually dark, ironic twist at the end) reflect the obvious Power Pop influences of Brochin and a darker, more mysterious side in Riccio that culminated in a songwriting duo that could be considered to be an unlikely pairing that was somewhat unusual for the time. Regardless, the bottom line was the memorable catchiness of the musical and vocal hooks that could be found within the songs they created within that entire single year together, which still shine quite nicely at present in the recordings contained herein - all of which are seeing their first official release anywhere more than a quarter-century later in the final months of 2007. And so it was for one brief year that the sound of undeniably catchy American-style Power Pop emanated from the streets of New Haven, Connecticut at the dawn of the 1980's in the oddly-named Doug Derek & The Hoax - a sound that still echoes back like a breath of fresh air today.
The Sidewalks “Rhythm Kids” LP (Rave Up) $11 import

Jim Basnight and the Moberlys “Pop Pleasure” LP (Rave Up) $11 import
The Moberlys started playing around Seattle in the fall of 1978. The band was leaded by the great songwriter Jim Basnight. 18 studio tracks recorded between 1980-83. Stellar power pop, an album full of hits such 'Live in the Sun', 'LonesomeCrying Sigh', 'I Want you' and others... Perhaps one of the best power pop bands of the late seventies/early eighties ever! Perfect and marvellous sound!
Future Dads “24 Winship” LP (Rave Up) $11 import
Future Dads, formed in 1981 after the split of legendary Boston punk band Unnatural Axe, were influenced by Ramones along with longtime heroes like the Modern Lovers and Lou Reed. The Dads gigged regularly at the Rat, the Channel, the Underground, Cantones, the Club, the Paradise, and the Inn-Square Men’s Bar on bills along with local bands and out-of-town acts like the Plimsouls, Plasmatics, Mo-dettes, Professionals, Wire Train, and Shrapnel. After recorded a great 7” and many other studio tracks, the band split up in 1982. So there you have it. A little snapshot in time, these songs provided the soundtrack for a ragged ride through the glory days of Boston’s underground rock scene fueled by alcohol, loud amps, and a love for rock and roll that is still with us today. Essential!
New Toys “Better Late Then Never NYC 1980 Punk Rock” LP (Rave Up) $11 import
Influenced by Dead Boys & Heartbreakes, New Toys were leaders of the late 70s punk movement in Buffalo. Leaded by a young Kevin K (Road Vultures and many others projects) and his brother Alan (Grimm Reaper, Aunt Helen) the band was reaching their pinnacle in late 1980, opening up for Ramones, Dead Boys, Babys, Romantics & Squeeze. This album contains studio material (1981) + two live tracks at CBGB. Absolutely a 'must' for every NYC punk fan!
Dean Dirg “Raus!” LP (Prugel Prinz) $11 import
DEAN DIRG are one of the best new bands to come out of Germany in the past few years. DEAN DIRG, consisting of Doph (Vocals), Borge (Drums), Claus (Guitar) and Torsten (Bass), bring a nice refreshing sound to the oversaturated hardcore/trash punk genres. Beginning in 2000 DEAN DIRG self released a few cassettes that eventually let to their ear splitting 10"viny debut entitled '9 Refreshing Ways to say FUCK OFF'. This 10” took the German underground by storm. Their distinct mix of mid 80's punk/hardcore ala Black Flag, Faith, Void and LARM sprinked with some of the more amped up aspects of newer rockers like the Hives, Henry Fiats Open Sore and the Reatards set them apart from being just another punk, hardcore or garage bands because of their appealing genre mixing. Following this groundbreaking 10" that went in and out of print in a heartbeat, they released 2 phenomenal LP's. Their debut 'S/T' LP was released in 2002 on German based Pandoras Box Records and is also currently out of print. Following this album came the stellar 'Last Kid On The Block' LP released in 2004 on Germany's Stereodrive Records. Both of these albums are absolutely solid from start to finish and demonstrate the DEAN DIRG's signature short fast bursts of jagged, disconnected rock n roll dabbling occasionally in the pop arena all the while maintaining an aggressive edge thanks to Dophs tough ass vox and Clause’s pummeling git lix! Mild linear comparisons can be made to other contemporary greats like Kajun SS, the Catholic Boys, Krunchies and Feelers; but what's impressive is that these guys have been blastin' since 2000 and are far from a new band!
Suzy and Los Quattro “Stick With It” LP (Screaming Apple) $11 import
This girl-fronted Punk-Power-Pop combo from Barcelona have turned the independent pop scene upside down since they started as an anniversary present between Suzy Chain (vox) and BB Quattro (bass). After a couple singles and a mini-CD (one of them collaborating with TV Smith from The Adverts and an EP placing the B-side to the first recording to ever join in the same band Tommy, Marky and CJ Ramone) the band toured non-stop not only in Spain but also in France, UK and Germany, pleasing the crowds with Suzy Chain's amazing front-woman skills and their hook-filled and well-crafted hi-energy pop songs. Their first album, "Ready To Go!" (2004) got raving reviews all over the world and was licensed in Japan via Wizzard In Vinyl. During 2005 they embark on a 2 weeks japanese "Lipstick To Japan Tour", which confirmed their "pop idols" status in the land of rising sun, selling out two nights in Tokyo and receiving an almost beatlesque warm welcome.
The Golden Boys “Scorpion Stomp #2” LP (Perpetrator) $10 import
1st LP after 7" on PERPETRATOR and SOLID SEX LOVIE DOLL !!! Chicken-fry your minds eye on a sonic hayride of full blown blues, psyche and pure noise. Whats the secret? Nitrous oxide? The daily panorama of buzzards on roadkill? JAMES ARTHUR (FIREWORKS, NECESSARY EVILS, A FEAST OF SNAKES) finally sets down his fuzzed out buzz-saw guitar and instead beats the crap out of the drums.
MATT HOOPENGARDNER of THE WHITE HEAT, San Antonios seminal rocknroll boom-bam, picks up the guitar for the first time and takes over with Lee Hazelwood-esque songwriting and bearded toodling. WES COLEMAN, Denton Texas psyche/folk legend and all around sonic madman to top off this blur of pure Texas scree. The outcome is a mix of classic songwriting and supersonic intensity that lays waste to all contemporaries.
The Greatest Hits “For A Good Time Call” CD (Desert Island) $10
I am such a sucker for this style. It has to be pretty lame glampunk for me to not like it and this disc is pure ear candy. They take from the full spectrum: moody Hanoi and Lords stuff, poppier stuff, and Thunders worship. Songs are a little on the long side and this is best taken in a few smaller doses than in one sitting. Fans of Hollywood Teasze, Trash Brats, Rick Blaze And The Ballbusters, and Kevin K will find a lot to like here.
The Riffs “Death or Glory” CD/LP (TKO) $10
THE RIFFS from Portland, OR truly accomplish a genuine resurrection of authentic early punk music. With influences ranging from T.REX, EDDIE & THE HOT RODS, and the SEX PISTOLS to the COCKNEY REJECTS, THE RIFFS combine the best elements of pre-punk rock n' roll and punk rock to create some of the best modern punk music to date.
The Riffs “Dead End Dream” CD/LP (TKO) $10

The Regulations “Electric Guitar” CD/LP (Havoc) $10
Seven new studio tracks on the A side. Following in the proven Regulations style of going back to the roots of hardcore punk, circa 1980. Catchy, snotty, raw, hardcore punk that would fit right in on Dangerhouse records or the Boston Not L.A. compilation. B side features both 7's (now out of print) as bonus tracks.
The Regulations “S/T” CD/LP (Havoc) $10
Regulations follow up their two super hot 7"s with a full throttle full length of catchy hardcore punk rock. Featuring ex members of ETA, these guys left the wild thrash of their youth behind for a more song driving approach to hardcore. The result was a return to the early LA hardcore roots style. Regulations jam in the crucial style of early Black Flag, Circle Jerks, or Adolescents. Imagine a mix of recent Scandinavian bands like Amdi Petersen's Arme, Young Wasteners, DS 13 or No Hope for the Kids. Umeå, Sweden has fostered some of the best hardcore bands of the past decade.
7” LIST:
Pure Country Gold “P.C.G.E.P.” 7” (Dirtnap / Green Noise) $5
Portland's Pure Country Gold's debut album is nothing less of sensational! This 2-piece's brand of garage punk, r&b, and blooze is rock'n'roll stripped to bone with basic raw melodies, not unlike The King Khan & BBQ Show, and to-the-point guitar strumming that'd be make old pappa Chuck Berry proud. 10 killer tracks in less than 30 minutes, just perfect. My favorite album of this issue!
River City Tanlines “Devil Made Me Do It” 7” (Contaminated) $5 import
If you have heard the singles, you know what you will find: rockin' punk with lots of pop/indie feelings and some really fast hardcore songs soundin' very rock. The slow songs are just near the perfection. And the hardcore songs are also really good, but I think they haven't the correct sound, very rock near metal for me, as songs they are good but the slow songs are miles beyond the hardcore stuff. Avengers/Bags total fans like me will love it.
Shocks “Endsieg” 7” (Puke ‘n’ Vomit) $5
Another snotty punk filled 7" by these Germans. You know what to expect. Full throttle 77 snot nosed punk!! And you want to know the best part... This slab of wax features "Just Another Unit" originally done by your favorite Killed By Death rippers LOS REACTORS. First press is long gone. Don't slip on this one.
The Mojomatics “Nothin About Nothin” 7” (Alien Snatch) $5 import
Alien Snatch’s bestselling Italian duo is back. A helluva catchy new single that’s gonna win even more fans over. Primitive yet still easily accessible garagerock. They’re drawing from some great songwriting and a lot energy and fun, and love of music. Think country, 60’s garage, soul, blues.. They incoporate it all. It’s stomping and danceable as hell. Besides having talent – they’re the nicest guys you can imagine!
Ghetto Ways “Party Down” 7” (Alien Snatch) $5 import
Despite a name that may make you think they’re a hip-hop band, Brooklyn’s GHETTO WAYS (it’s a pun… figure it out yourself) play 100% balls to the wall Motor City-style rock and roll, baby. If the BELLRAYS are the female-fronted answer to the MC5, then think of GHETTO WAYS as the STOOGES.
The Manikins “Crocodiles” 7” (Human Bretzel) $5 import
This is a French 7” EP that will go fast. The title song is from their 4th new album released in 2008 on Full Breach Kicks called “Crocodiles”. The two others are unreleased and exclusive tracks to this 7" record. The Damned second single ("Neat Neat Neat" released in 1977) gave ideas to The Manikins for this sleeve-cover, for the front and the back. “Crocodiles” is a fast and catchy song that The Manikins realised easily since a long time, probably the best song from their fourth LP album released in June 2008. Still influenced by 1977 melodic punk rock, they burn the tires and the engine of their machine is all red burning.
The Manikins “The World that Once Was Ours” 7” (P. Trash) $5 import
New one-sided 7'' by our swedish faves. The fast and catchy ''The world that once was ours'' is taken straight from their upcoming new LP/CD ''Lie Cheat and Steal'' on P.Trash, whereas the sticky und melodic Power-Pop song ''I'm a pretender'' (originally penned by Portland's EXPLODING HEARTS, which, apart from one lucky member, got killed in a car crash last year), is exclusive to this release.
Digital Leather “Closed My Eyes” 7” (P. Trash) $5 import
To give Shawn Foree and his new band DIGITAL LEATHER a heartly welcome to Europe again, P.Trash and FDH Records dug out this wonderful display of synthesized Punk spasticity, that originally was released in 2007 by Disordered Records in a limited run of only 250 copies, and re-press it now. ''Closed my eyes'' and ''Frown'' were also on the band's ''Blow-Machine'' LP, but the version herein are way harder, rougher and better. On these two songs, frightening synthesizers and undercooled vocals create a mood that sounds like if San Francisco's SCREAMER and SUICIDE would be meeting in a darkroom for some fast and anonymous action. The unreleased ''Plane'' could be compared to a punkier version of WARSAW while the super-catchy tune ''Photo-lie'' fills every dancefloor with its positive elements of HUMAN LEAGUE crossed with an overdose of noisy Electro-Punk. Attention: This band is highly addictive and leaves you stunned! Don't miss them on their tour in May 2008.
This Europe-Tour 2008 re-press comes with a new artwork!!!
Retainers “Lose It” 7” (P. Trash) $5 import
These 4 songs of this Minneanapolis based quartet make it hard to retain yourself. The catchy starter "Lose It" could be your favorite on any Killed By Death compilation. "More More More" and "Deep In The Hole" could be taken from lost tapes of the early, reverb-laden OBLIVIANS with a huge dose of REATARDS distortion that totally comes through in the faster and punkier "In The Night". Packed in a thick and colored cardboard-sleeve.
The Regulations “Different Needs” 7” (P. Trash) $5 import
This is the European version of the REGULATIONS highly anticipated new platter where the Swedes brilliantly mingle dirty `70s Swedish Punkrock with the energy, rudeness and melody of early `80s LA Punkrock a la ADOLESCENTS or CIRCLE JERKS. Rough, melodic and complex guitars, very good arrangements topped with some gritty vocals and pissed-off introspective lyrics make each of these 4 songs a hit. Top notch material from one of the best Hardcore-Punk bands around today. Comes as a split release between P.Trash and Dennis Lyxzen's Ny Våg Records with the same insert and artwork as the US-pressing but in a red/white cover.
Shakin Nasties “Victim of Time” 7” (P.Trash) $5 import
The past couple of years I've wondered why some bands doing the snotty trash-punk thing grab the lo-brow intellectual's attention but these German dimbulbs have been practically ignored. The Real Kids and the Drags get crammed into a meat grinder and get formed into patties by fans of the Buzzcocks. Since it's 100% pure beef it's meaty-n-blood red with little fat count so it doesn't shrink to nothing on the frying pan or after multiple plays. The singer has one of those obnoxious "Yeah, you can call me a fag but I'll be fucking your girlfriend after the show" type voice's and rolls his R's as the band slams out 3 or 4 chord hooks like a power pop band taking advantage of a huge baggie of crank.
Vicious Cycle “Neon Electric” 7” (P.Trash) $5 import
This 3rd ep shows a brand new dimension of the Sudbury Ontario snotty kids. 4 new songs still inspired by early 80’s hardcore punk, but more in the early BLACK FLAG way mixed up with a taste of ZERO BOYS. This 7" is heads above their last two in our opinion. Simple aggressive and pissed off songs from one of the best Hardcore-Punk bands around today. Mixed and mastered by JAY REATARD. Viva la Canada!!!
Digger and the Pussycats “Card Shark Annie” 7” (P.Trash) $5 import
Digger & The Pussycats have visited CPH on numerous occasions with their stripped-down garage punk, and the Aussie duo has enough of a following here to be familiar with most of the audience. Again, it’s super primitive but it’s charming, and it’s over in just over half an hour. Like sex, yes.
Clorox Girls / Kissin’ Cousins “Split” 7” (Carnus / Beat Generation) $5 import
What you have in the Clorox Girls is a band that plays late 70s style punk, from a time when punk was influenced by the likes of Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, Little Richard, Elvis, and Howlin Wolf. Couple this with early 80’s Los Angeles, you know, the Gears, Germs, Red Cross, (Ron Reyes) Black Flag, Dickies, and you have an idea of where these Girls are coming from. The Clorox Girls have honed their pop edge without losing the sound that harkens back to that peculiar lost-in-time-garage-psych-no-man’s land that birthed Redd Cross and the Angry Samoans. It is also clear that the Clorox Girls have arrived at a sound of their own.
Taxi “Who’s to Blame” 7” (Dead Beat) $4
Punk rock from Italy that is probably closest in style to The Vibrators. The songs are mostly in English and are really damn catchy. Many songs have that great grinding mid-tempo guitar sound that has the simple urgency of late 70’s punk rock, while the songs also contain enough attitude to bring them above the level of a mere homage to the past. Very well done and worth picking up before you slip into the middle-age doldrums and forget what it’s like to be alive.
Toby Wong / Night Terrors “Split Alice Cooper Covers” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Two of Wisconsin's garage terrorist combos tackle the Alice Cooper Group playlist, namely "Sick Things" "Long Way to Go". Grinding takes, upping the nastiness heaviness from Glen Buxton Michael Bruce's original guitars. Maybe chuck some Iommi Asheton chops into the proceedings to explain the more psychotic results.
Ladies Night “Hell On the Phone” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
More Canadian craziness to add to the already growing pile of Canuck combos. Every one a winner, and if you've been missing the smart-ass Velvets tinged basement rock of the Thomas Jefferson Slave Appartments, then maybe Ladies Night can help you out.... three tunes including a Devo cover recall Ron House his cohorts, and that primitive art punk peculiar to the state of Ohio ala Per Ubu, Pagans, Peter Laughner the Electric Eels.... maybe some no-fi Wire to boot in the mix as well, nagging riffs that get their hooks into yer head, mad bad vox, trashcan rhythms.... how can ya resist?
The Wednesdays “Liberty” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Southern-fried rockabilly punks who've toured the pants out of the USA. Two singles on Estrus, three albums on their own labels. A mix of early Misfits with all whole heap of sun rockabilly influences, Buddy Holly w/ feedback anyone? Memebers were also in SFTRI Estrus recording stars, the Quadrajets.
The Western Dark “So Sad, Well?” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Erin ex-bassist from the DEADLY WEAPONS, current guitarist for TOP TEN, teams up with a Lemmy-esque singer, and the ex-bassist fer ZEN GUERILLA and pound out some drunken rock, got a cover of Radio Birdman's "Breaks My Heart” on the B-side.
This Dam Town “Love Like Lies” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Do you like it RAW like a motherfucker? Of course you do! Get this new 7" from Texas' own THIS DAMN TOWN. On the a-side they will take you on a bad trip as they play the slide guitar-laced soundtrack to your mental breakdown. B-side comes faster with fantastic hooklines. Half the band have upped the ante in the HEX DISPENSERS, while another former crew member does time in the STRANGE ATTRACTORS... Cut the head off the beast, two more spring up up.
Lot Lizards “Leave Me Alone” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
First seven inch slab for London duo, Meg GG are campadres of BLACK TIME, they also got a side-band with Lemmy Caution called Subway Slims. Similar styles to the BLACK TIME mob, an unholy mess of CHILDISH/BASSHOLES/CRIME/PUSSY GALORE/MONKS/SUPERCHARGER action. Heavy fuzz chunk guitar, heavy drum pound stomp, and dual male/female vox, they utilise everything they got at their disposal for their three punkified Diddley tumes on this here debut wax. Follow-up single hot on its heels, coming on Yakisakana.
Jeremy Gluck “I am Time” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Best known as the singer for British power pop surf band The Barracudas, Mister Gluck has been quietly amassing a body of solo tunes over the past decade a half with a number of illustrious musical companions, most notably w/the late Nikki Sudden Epic Soundtracks (of Swell Maps fame), Rowland S. Howard the late Jeffrey Lee Pierce. These tunes are out of a more recent batch and tap into a Velvets drone side of Mister Gluck's repertoire, a touch of Spacemen 3 in the proceedings, but all graced with the unmistakable vocals of the Barracuda man.
Skip Jensen “Out on the Horizon” 7” (Perpetrator) $5 import
Montreal good guy, Skip blesses us with another prime duo of soulful country blues stompers, w/the inimitable Seb Normal on drums, the frenzied gospel tinged "Out on the Horizon" and the instrumental slide blues sidewinder "Orient". Out of the tonne of tunes slapped to tape with Seb Normal in France during one of Skip's many tours across the globe. SCAT RAG BOOSTERS/DEMON'S CLAWS/STACK O'LEES, a resume ya can't argue with, Skip is now covering a multitude of bases in his solo guise, the man is all class.
